Evening Mass Of The Lord's Supper
Holy Thursday!
The first Holy Week, planned by God, was the most important week in the life of Jesus Christ. This Holy Week, likewise should be the most important week in the entire year for each one of us. It should be the week for prayer, and meditation, in understanding the events of the Passion of our Lord. Today, (Holy Thursday) we celebrate Christ's twofold giving of Himself: to His enemies, to die on the cross for the life of the world. He is the paschal victim, whose blood saves His people. To His friends and disciples, His Chruch- that is, to us - in the sacrament of His Body and Blood. If we want to belong to Christ, we must follow His example of self-giving and of service - 'washing one another's feet'. We must be willing and ready to say with Christ, about our own selves : 'This is the body which is given up for you'. The whole purpose of today's liturgy is to enable us to make this self- giving the real motivation for our lives. Holy Thursday was the preparation day for the Passover.
Readings for today's Holy Thursday mass ;
1.) Exodus 12:1-8 , 11-14
- Our first reading from the book of Exodus sets down the detailed prescriptions of the passover meal which have been observed for thousands of years. Jesus Himself observed them when he sat down with His disciples at The Last Supper.
2.) 1 Corinthians 11: 23-26
- During His celebration of the passover meal, Jesus took bread and wine and proclaimed that He was the new sacrificial lamb and that a new covenant was being enacted. Paul tels the Corinthians that He has been very faithful in handling down the tradition of Christ.
Gospel Acclamation
Praise and honour to You, Lord Jesus!
I give You a new commandment:
love one another just as I have loved You, says the Lord.
Praise and honour to You, Lord Jesus!.
Today I felt so happy and relaxed. everything seems to be so calm and beautiful for me. Lessons in school was more fun than usual too...we laughed at everything and tell jokes. You can say that looking at my teacher's face and laughing is a silly thing to do in class. I mean, what can I do, if it's really funny! My teacher keep doing silly faces that even he himself didn't notice it. Pity him, I thought. But we laughed anyway, even though he dislikes raising his voice at us. I just can't help it.
When I'm home, it's already 6.30 so I took a quick bath, and go to Church for Holy Thursday Mass. I feel wonderful. God really touched my heart this time. Praise God for restoring the electric current. It's fun to pray in a 'candle light' condition, but it's also hot and dark. Learning God's plan and work for us is so great and each day. you want more and more suprises from God. Yes, I'm always like that every morning. Even so, I intend to build a more secure relationship with Jesus. To know Him better as well as His plans for our lives. But for now, I'm so grateful!
