Poring Hot Springs (PHS) @ Ranau, Sabah

Good day everyone!! I don't know about you, but I've been hiking and swimming on Malaysia's Independence day!

I know, it's a one-day trip to Poring and it's not enough, since I need to school on the next day..(frustrated). Still, I'm grateful being able to explore our country's treasured nature...trying my best to squeeze my time to fit my plan.. :)
I'm a girl who loves to travel, and always will be. As a Penang girl, I've visited almost every state in the Peninsular M'sia and I'm heading for something new, something full of adventure..here in the east of M'sia.

31st of August, woke up at 5.30 a.m and started our journey from Berkat Setia.

The name 'Poring' come from a Kadazandusun word for a bamboo species found in the area. I've been to Poring, once actually. But I haven't got the chance to go into the woods and discover mother nature's precious babies..Lucky for me, Beverly invited me to go. I took this oppurtunity to seek for the waterfalls instead of swimming in the pool and going on the canopy walk, like I did last time. Oh yes, there's a canopy, too. For those who loves sightseeing, I assure you to go for it was simply amazing. The walkway is 157.8cm long and 41m high. Haha..very high I know.. Besides. there is also a beautiful Butterfly farm in PHS. It's in fact the very first butterfly farm in Borneo.

dropped by at Charolyn's house to bring her along..she's 11 years old :)

on our way to Kipungit Waterfall. It's the nearest and smaller one. It can be reached in about 20 minutes while the bigger Langganan Waterfall takes an hour's hike to get to. Unfortunately, we did not make it till Langganan since it's too far. Plus, I'm alone with Beverly since her mum prefers to rest and read newspaper at the hot springs..So, 2 girls hiking along without any guide is not likely.

before going any farther, we took a good swim down in the pool.. it's so cold I can't even concentrate on my swim!

Charolyn did not continue to hike with us though, she left us for some swimming in the pool..haha

At last!! After such a long time hiking, we reached Kipungit Waterfall!!

it's not an easy hiking by any means, the trail are sometimes steep or may be wet because of rainfall.
Anyway, I'm glad we did it till Kipungit! The water here is as cool as ice and crystal clear. it's not deep and suitable for all..
left : me , right : *Tarzan of the day!! whoo hoo...

"these 2 waterfalls named after the rivers can be found by trekking the forest trails of the same name Botanishts like to trek along the Langganan Trail as somewhere along it's path it the only site known in the Poring Park for the very rare Rhizanthes - a parasitic flower belonging to the same family as the Rafflesia, the Rafflesiaceae." -

get a dip in the waterfall - tired feet..

behold - the Kipungit Waterfall!

we spent a few minutes refreshing ourselves and continued till the bat cave. There's a sign that says ' visitors are not encouraged to enter the cave' wth I want to! Good thing it's smelly haha! I just caught a glimpse inside the cave and it's a messy assortment of large boulders and rocks on top with small caverns lifting between the gaps. The narrow entrance makes the cave looks eerie even in bright daylight..(shrug)

eventually, we climbed our way down back to the Kipungit Waterfall and then back down to the hot springs. Exhausted, really. But I'm happy although we did not reach Langganan.

after that, we took lunch and prepared to go home after another swim in the pool.hahaha..it's not everyday u got to swim like this.. life always gets in the way..
