Stardust - a charming originality
*Clap hands* I've finally journeyed myself to the state library for the first in 3 years I lived in Sandakan. - and that would never be accomplished without the company of my two fellow friends, Beverly and Clare. We've been to school in the morning, with a single purpose -- to return our form 3 textbooks to the school SPBT. Oh joy. No more heavy bags! No more heavy bags!

With bags as light as a feather, I feel drawn to the library in town. which, I thought is a bit deserted from the outskirts of town itself. I had no idea how many minutes it ate from our time. Lucky for us, we had a quite pleasant weather and lunch was a pleasant one too, for I got myself my favourite, Spaghetti. It took away 11 MYR from me but it was worth it. After we contended ourselves with food, we took the bus to town and from there, walked to the library. It makes me happy, to be in an air-conditioned place with huge glasses that reflects the sea outside. A good place, I thought although it is rather peculiar to see very little people are in there, students make up most of the space though. And the books, they are magnificent. I can't help but wonder why they did not arrange the books in a sequel form. It's a shame really, to find a book you are most interested in reading, but had no clue as to where the next sequel to it lies. All the good series books seemed to be scattered among the huge library with absolutely thin hope of finding them. I bumped into my schoolmates there, Lucy, Ivy and Jennifer. Jen suggested that we asked Ivy about the books' whereabouts in the place - she told me that some books had no sequel to it. Great.

BTW, I've been up to Stardust novel by Neil Gaiman recently. I had just finished reading them today. Yes, this is how 'left-behind' I would become. This movie was released years earlier, obviously. But still, it was a total different matter to read and to watch. In my opinion, reading is better, as you can picture the scene yourself and build up those characters in your own fantasy world. Watching is like an instant entertainment, where you get to sit there for a couple of hours and be done with the story, but it's both a good combination. A book full of poetry and marvels...a beautiful, memorable work, as Milwaukee Journal Sentinel would describe it. I personally think that it was, indeed a good book. There times where I don't understand the message of the writer though. but that's just because my brain is not yet upgraded to classical English words by Neil Gaiman. lol. All in all, it brings me into a world I've never been before, make me juggled the characters in my head with awe and kept me awake most of the nights. Hahaha! This 333-paged book does wonders! It is a good book to absorb oneself in at rainy days with cookies and hot chocolate by your side. :D Going Crazy for STARDUST!!
STARDUST
Young Tristran Thorn will do anything to win the cold heart of beautiful Victoria Forrester, even fetching her the star they watched fall from the night sky together. To do so, he must enter the unexplored lands of magic and danger - Faerie. It lies on the other side of the ancient wall that gives their tiny village its name. Beyong that old stone barrier, Tristran got himself into a strange world where strange things could happen to a determined lad like him, chasing his heart's desire...and where, nothing, not even a fallen star, is what he imagined.
At 4 p.m, I am out of the library with two books - first = TORMENT by Lauren Kate. So, the bad news is that TORMENT is actually a book preceded by the first book, FALLEN. I like TORMENT, it stirs up the interest in me to further my reading, unfortunately I can't do that without the FALLEN, right?. Gotta know how 'things' came about at first first. Grrr...The library is trying my patience but I had my mistake in choosing the right book in the first place. So, yea. As idiotic as I could be, I searched for the plot of FALLEN which were there to increase my craving on these books by Lauren Kate. I sure hope I could be swept away by the stories in no time. If only I got hold of the book. hm....
FALLEN
Some Angels are Destined to Fall. There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori. Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

THE SUMMONING
'Chloe Saunders sees dead people. Yes, like in the films. The problem is, in real life saying you see ghosts gets you a one-way ticket to the psych ward. And at 15, all Chloe wants to do is fit in at school and maybe get a boy to notice her. But when a particularly violent ghost haunts her, she gets noticed for all the wrong reasons. Her seemingly crazed behaviour earns her a trip to Lyle House, a centre for disturbed teens.
At first Chloe is determined to keep her head down. But then her room mate disappears after confessing she has a poltergeist, and some of the other patients also seem to be manifesting paranormal behaviour. Could that be a coincidence? Or is Lyle House not quite what it seems…? Chloe realizes that if she doesn’t uncover the truth, she could be destined for a lifetime in a psychiatric hospital. Or could her fate be even worse…? Can she trust her fellow students, and does she dare reveal her dark secret?'
"You'll be desperate for a sequel." - Melissa Marr, author of the New York Times bestseller WICKED LOVELY.
I agree 100% with Melissa though. Thought of talking to my mum into buying the sequel. And this is how mad I can go when I am so into novels. Perhaps the exams that rushed through my veins that ended weeks ago washed away my madness for novels. Temporarily. I can't even remember when was the last time I touched a novel. Thank God everything was over now, and I can finally enjoy my reading without a voice in my head that always bugs me to study.
Fresh news!! Called my mum seconds ago and she said she'll do all her best to find Sidney Sheldon's books. I am so hyper! Beverly wanted to read some of his works too, for I can't deny that he had the best of the unexpected. He was labelled as 'master of the unexpected' - and I couldn't agree more. Shall be meeting my mum within two weeks! Even if she fails to buy me some books, her being here with me is the greatest gift on Earth. Signing of now readings. Chao :)
